  1. How can I animate height from 0 to auto using the Tweenmax Timeline? I do a lot of research and see some solutions with CSS. But I have already something dynamic with Gsap where I need to animate height from 0px to auto on clicking the item. I didn't find any solution to gsap documentation and any example where I can achieve it. Here is my code to animate on GSAP. import { TimelineMax, Power4, Expo, TweenMax } from 'gsap/all'; const loginSection = document.querySelector('.login-form'); const loginForm = document.querySelector('.login-form form'); const tl = new TimelineMax({ paused: true }) TweenMax.set(loginSection, { height: 0 }) tl.addLabel('start') .set(loginForm, { opacity: 0, x: 50 }) .to(loginSection, 0.7, { height: 'auto', ease: Power4.easeOut }, 'start') .to(loginForm, 0.7, { opacity: 1, x: 0, ease: Power4.easeOut }, 'start+=0.4') when I click on the element rather than it expanding it renders immediately without any animation. But when I use px instead of auto it's working. But it's not my goal. Your suggestion or solution appreciated.
  2. I'm just not sure if I still need Scrollmagic, as I haven't used GSAP in a really long time, and it seems (at least by looking) that you don't need SM to have simple .from() animations that say fade in a div from the left and from opacity 0 to 1 (like on the homepage elements as you scroll down). I'm setting up my dependencies, and just want to wrap my head around how to do it currently. Thanks in advance, and I apologize for my ignorance!
  3. Hi there, I'm new with gsap, and I would love to integrate it with my react projects. For what I understood, to use gsap to animate my elements, I need first to target them with ref and useRef(), I was wondering in case I need to create a grid based on data coming from an api call, let's say a not definied number of tiles with images, and I want them to appear with a staggered animation, how should I proceed ? I am a bit confused because I don't know how to target them with useRef() I hope that my question makes sense, in case I'm happy to clarify Cheers
  4. Hi, I've been trying to make a gallery navigation like this: https://www.powerhouse-company.com where the menu is a gallery of images and moves when you drag the canvas and then you have the select to sort the diverse articles, the animation is beautiful. I'm guessing I have to use a plugin to do the sorting like they use (flickity), but I'm kind of lost on how to make the canvas. I just want to be able to drag my canvas in fullview and integrate it with images which would be Links. I'm not expecting any of you to tell me the answer. I'd be more than happy if you just simply point me in the right direction. And sorry if my english is not good, it's not my first language. Thank you all for your time!
  5. how to make Scroll with text fill like link below I have done everything I think I can do and have not had a similar result even I hope for any help and at least an idea http://clapat.ro/themes/hervin-wordpress/
  6. So I'm navigating a page using transitions animated with gsap. I don't know if that's the correct approach, but currently my navigation consists of plain js code reacting to click events. Since I'm using react, I'm trying to implement react-router. F.e. to check if the about page is opened, I check whether the current path matches with about and then set the correct position of the container (initially it's transformed outside of the view): aboutTransition = gsap.timeline({onComplete: () => destroyPreviousScroll()}) .set(revealerAbout.DOM.inner, { yPercent: 0 }, 0) .set(revealerAbout.DOM.reverse, { yPercent: 0 }, 0); That's how the transition to about usually looks: aboutTransition = gsap.timeline({ onComplete: () => destroyPreviousScroll(), onReverseComplete: () => destroyPreviousScroll() }) .to(revealerAbout.DOM.inner, duration, { ease: ease, yPercent: 0 }, 0) .to(revealerAbout.DOM.reverse, duration, { ease: ease, yPercent: 0 }, 0) As you can see, usually it includes some ease - but for instantly setting it's position, it doesn't. Using aboutTransition.reverse() for the second example, obviously reverses the animation showing the same thing again but backwards - perfect - but currently for the first example, where I'm instantly setting the position, that's not the case, it just disappears again. To put it short, I need it to appear instantly, as with the first example, but reverse with an animation, as with the second example. How can I achieve this?
  7. I'm trying to achieve the following text hover effect: How do I achieve a hover animation that looks like the one in the video? How do I achieve that kind of space/delay between every single letter? Do I have to split them first or is there an easier approach? In the following codepen you can find my current progress.
  8. Hi, I've been trying to re-create the history timeline where I found in: https://www.longines.com/company/history/20th/1939 I tried up to a certain point, after that i'm out of ideas. I've provided the work i've done so far. Up to now i've done the following things, OnDrag the handler, the years dots moves OnClick the year dot, page will scroll to the relevant history topic. Now I'm struggling in following areas, how identify, the handler is in between which two years dots, have to show the years data in the handler on passing each year dot, the content should scroll to relevant topic . If you look at the link you'll understand what i'm saying. And even-though, I manage to move the years dots, at end of it, the handler is going pass the last dot. If you look the reference link. They are correctly managing it. I've been trying this for last couple of weeks now. If you guys help on this that would be great.
  9. I am trying to develop an infinite canvas animation which show cases a number of clickable images on it. On moving the cursor the images will move in the opposite direction, I tried this with div now, is it possible to use Canvas for an infinite scroll effect. Plugins used: TweenMax, TweenLinte, ScrollToPlugin, Draggable
  10. Hi everyone. First of all, I wish everyone a good evening. I'm new to Gsap. I made an animation of myself using the side menu animation Timelinemax. There is no problem in opening and closing the side menu. I can open and close Timelinemax I have done with "t1.reverse()". But I want my menu to close when I press anywhere on the ".overlay". It closes Timelinemax with reverse, but the animation starts from halfway when you re-open the menu. I have been dealing with this problem for a long time. Where do you think the mistake is? I would be glad if you can help. I wish you good work.
  11. Hey, I'm pretty new at this GSAP thing. I've never made a transition between pages so I don't know the best way to do it. In my animation everything works fine the first time, but from then on it doesn't work the same. I know I should reset the animation to its initial state, but I don't even know where to start. Thanks in advance https://codepen.io/JamalDols/project/editor/AOmBar
  12. Hi, I want to make an animation with two lines. Basically the two lines should increase their width and form an "X". My problem is the rotation AND the fact that the animation should NOT start in the center of each line but on the "top-left" and "top-right" of the corresponding lines. When I rotate the lines and then perform the width animation strange things happen. I tried to get things work correct by using the "transform-origin" and "transform: translate()" properties but without success. I've attached an GIF with the X animation I want to achieve. Maybe someone can enlighten me since I'm at the very beginning of my animation career 😅
  13. Hello, I am using scroll magic, What I am doing is, I have to scroll the element on scroll. I fount the example here https://codepen.io/PointC/pen/zaBYoW and I try to understand the script but I am not able to use pseudo class with find method. Would you help me out this?
  14. Hello all I want to create a animation like CSS3 keyframe animation with GSAP, but I have encountered some problems. The first is how to set keyframes, see the below css code: .element{ animation: ball 2s ease-in-out } @keyframes ball{ 25%{ background:red; } 50%{ background:yellow; } 75%{ background:green; } 100%{ background:black; } } //or a more complex one .Shake { animation: Shake 3s ease 0s forwards; } @keyframes Shake { 0%, 100% {transform: translateX(0);} 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 90% {transform: translateX(-10px);} 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% {transform: translateX(10px);} } I use TimelineLite.to() with accurate time setting to create a similar animation: var timeline = new TimelineLite(); timeline .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:red}) .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:yellow}, 0.5) .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:green}, 1) .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:black}, 1.5) Is there any better way to create such a animation? And the second problem is how to set a type of ease to the whole timelineLite, not just to one of the tweens? For example, in css, 'ease-in-out' is applied to the whole animation, not just between two of the keyframes. .element{ animation: ball 2s ease-in-out } But in gsap, it just works on one of the tweens , not the whole timeline. var timeline = new TimelineLite(); timeline .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:red,ease: Back.easeOut}) .to(element, 0.5s, {backgroundColor:yellow,ease: Back.easeOut}, 0.5); Any help very much appreciated!
  15. Can anyone please help me to develop exactly same scroll as this example http://320and360wythe.com/team. In this we can scroll manually and pause in between section. If we scroll more it will animate to next slide.

    TweenLite

Note: TweenLite has been deprecated in GSAP 3 in favor of the streamlined gsap object. It has 50+ new features and is almost <strong>half the size!</strong> GSAP 3 is backward compatible with the vast majority of GSAP 2 features including TweenLite. Please see the Migration Guide for details. The information below covers the older version 2... TweenLite is an extremely fast, lightweight, and flexible animation tool that serves as the foundation of the GreenSock Animation Platform (GSAP). A TweenLite instance handles tweening one or more properties of any object (or array of objects) over time. TweenLite can be used on its own to accomplish most animation chores with minimal file size or it can be used in conjunction with advanced sequencing tools like TimelineLite or TimelineMax to make complex tasks much simpler. Basic Usage The most basic use of TweenLite would be to tween a numeric property of a generic JavaScript object. var demo = {score:0}, scoreDisplay = document.getElementById("scoreDisplay"); //create a tween that changes the value of the score property of the demo object from 0 to 100 over the course of 20 seconds. //each time the tween updates call the function showScore() which will handle displaying the value of demo.score. var tween = TweenLite.to(demo, 20, {score:100, onUpdate:showScore}) function showScore() { scoreDisplay.innerHTML = demo.score.toFixed(2); } See the Pen TweenLite Tween Numeric Property by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen. note: Click on the "Result" tab to see the value of score animate. Animate CSS Properties For most HTML5 projects you will probably want to animate DOM elements. No problem. Once you load CSSPlugin TweenLite can easily animate CSS properties of DOM elements. /*external js http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/gsap/2.1.3/TweenLite.min.js http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/gsap/2.1.3/plugins/CSSPlugin.min.js */ window.onload = function() { var logo = document.getElementById("logo"); TweenLite.to(logo, 2, {left:"542px", backgroundColor:"black", borderBottomColor:"#90e500", color:"white"}); } See the Pen Animate Multiple Properties by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen. note: Click on the "Result" tab to see the animation. TweenLite isn't limited to animating DOM elements, in fact it isn't tied to any rendering layer. It works great with canvas and WebGL too! Control TweenLite is packed with methods that give you precise control over every tween. Play, pause, reverse, and adjust the timeScale (speed) whenever you need to. The demo below shows the power of just a handful of TweenLite's methods. See the Pen Control Playback by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen. note: Click on the "JS" tab to see detailed comments about what each button does. To see more of TweenLite in action visit our extensive CodePen collections. And so much more TweenLite is loaded with even more features allowing you to: kill tweens find active tweens specify how overwriting of tweens should be handled get/set the time, duration and progress of a tween delay tweens pass arguments into event callback functions specify values to tween from The best place to get all the juicy details on what TweenLite can do is in the TimelineLite documentation. Need even more tweening power? Be sure to check out TweenLite's beefy big brother TweenMax.
  17. Hello, i'm using gsap with scroll magic to animate on my project i tried to implamente smoothscroll, like this exemple, it's working right ecxept for pinned section. Any help plz ?
  18. Hey guys. I am trying to make a morph shape with gsap plugin. The result I want to achieve is: THE GOAL IS: Find svg's with class "morph" and runs timeline animation only for the one's that is in the viewport. THE ISSUE I HAVE: I did some work in the codepen, but the issue is, that every time my window detects the svg class "morph" it start to animate all the shapes/timelines on the website - and not only the ones visible in the viewport. Any ideas how to adjust my codepen? Thank you in advance

    jquery.gsap.js

Note: The gsap.jquery.js plugin was created for GSAP version 2 and earlier. We have since released GSAP 3 with many improvements but this plugin was discontinued because it no longer seemed relevant with the widespread shift away from using jQuery for animation. GSAP 3 does NOT support this plugin. We recommend simply using GSAP directly for all your animation needs from now on. Good news for anyone using jQuery.animate() - the new jquery.gsap.js plugin allows you to have GSAP take control under the hood so that your animations perform better; no need to change any of your code. Plus GSAP adds numerous capabilities, allowing you to tween colors, 2D transforms (rotation, scaleX, scaleY, skewX, skewY, x, y), 3D transforms (rotationX, rotationY, z, perspective), backgroundPosition, boxShadow, and lots more. You can even animate to a different className! This plugin makes it very easy to audition GSAP in your project without needing to learn a new API. We still highly recommend learning the regular GSAP API because it's much more flexible, robust, and object-oriented than jQuery.animate(), but for practical purposes this plugin delivers a bunch of power with almost zero effort. Benefits Up to 20x faster than jQuery's native animate() method. See the interactive speed comparison for yourself. Works exactly the same as the regular jQuery.animate() method. Same syntax. No need to change your code. Just load the plugin (and TweenMax or TweenLite & CSSPlugin) and you're done. Adds the ability to animate additional properties (without vendor prefixes): colors (backgroundColor, borderColor, color, etc.) boxShadow textShadow 2D transforms like rotation, scaleX, scaleY, x, y, skewX, and skewY, including 2D transformOrigin functionality 3D transforms like rotationY rotationX, z, and perspective, including 3D transformOrigin functionality borderRadius (without the need to define each corner and use browser prefixes) className which allows you to define a className (or use “+=” or “-=” to add/remove a class) and have the engine figure out which properties are different and animate the differences using whatever ease and duration you want. backgroundPosition clip Animate along Bezier curves, even rotating along with the path or plotting a smoothly curved Bezier through a set of points you provide (including 3D!). GSAP’s Bezier system is super flexible in that it’s not just for x/y/z coordinates – it can handle ANY set of properties. Plus it will automatically adjust the movement so that it’s correctly proportioned the entire way, avoiding a common problem that plagues Bezier animation systems. You can define Bezier data as Cubic or Quadratic or raw anchor points. Add tons of easing options including proprietary SlowMo and SteppedEase along with all the industry standards When animating the rotation of an object, automatically go in the shortest direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) using shortRotation, shortRotationX, or shortRotationY For a detailed comparison between jQuery and GSAP, check out the cage match. Usage Download the files (requires version 1.8.0 (or later) of TweenMax or TweenLite!) and then add the appropriate script tags to your page. The plugin file (jquery.gsap.min.js) itself does NOT include GSAP because you get to choose which files you want to load depending on the features you want. The simplest way to get all the goodies is by loading TweenMax (which includes TweenLite, CSSPlugin, TimelineLite, TimelineMax, EasePack, BezierPlugin, and RoundPropsPlugin too). For example, assuming you put the TweenMax.min.js file into a folder named "js" which is in the same directory as your HTML file, you'd simply place the following code into your HTML file: All the goodies: <script src="js/TweenMax.min.js"></script> <script src="js/jquery.gsap.min.js"></script> If, however, you're more concerned about file size and only want to use TweenLite, CSSPlugin (for animating DOM elements), and some extra eases, here is a common set of script tags: Lightweight: <script src="js/plugins/CSSPlugin.min.js"></script> <script src="js/easing/EasePack.min.js"></script> <script src="js/TweenLite.min.js"></script> <script src="js/jquery.gsap.min.js"></script> Then, to animate things, you can use the regular jQuery.animate() method like this: //tween all elements with class "myClass" to top:100px and left:200px over the course of 3 seconds $(".myClass").animate({top:100, left:200}, 3000); //do the same thing, but with a Strong.easeOut ease $(".myClass").animate({top:100, left:200}, {duration:3000, easing:"easeOutStrong"}); //tween width to 50% and then height to 200px (sequenced) and then call myFunction $(".myClass").animate({width:"50%"}, 2000).animate({height:"200px"}, {duration:3000, complete:myFunction}); See jQuery's API docs for details about the syntax and options available with the animate() method. And yes, the jQuery.stop() method works too. Caveats If you define any of the following in the animate() call, it will revert to the native jQuery.animate() method in order to maximize compatibility (meaning no GSAP speed boost and no GSAP-specific special properties will work in that particular call): a "step" function - providing the parameters to the callback that jQuery normally does would be too costly performance-wise. One of the biggest goals of GSAP is optimized performance; We'd strongly recommend NOT using a "step" function for that reason. Instead, you can use an onUpdate if you want a function to be called each time the values are updated. Anything with a value of "show", "hide", "toggle", "scrollTop" or "scrollLeft". jQuery handles these in a unique way and we don't want to add the code into CSSPlugin that would be required to support them natively in GSAP. If skipGSAP:true is found in the "properties" parameter, it will force things to fall back to the native jQuery.animate() method. So if a particular animation is acting different than what you're used to with the native jQuery.animate() method, you can just force the fallback using this special property. Like $(".myClass").animate({scrollTop:200, skipGSAP:true}); This is our first crack at a jQuery plugin, so please let us know if anything breaks or if you have ideas for improvement.
  20. I'm currently trying to implement a smooth scroll just like @OSUblake's smooth scroll. https://codepen.io/magiix/pen/MWwbmMV As for my content I solely have some images and some text. These images and texts are being fetched asynchronously, as soon as the data is set I try to resize the body to make the smooth scroll work for all of its content: doResize() { this.scroller.scrollRequest++; this.requestId = null; this.scroller.resizeRequest = 1; this.requestId = requestAnimationFrame(this.updateScroller.bind(this)); } This works fine. But somehow the text is still causing some minor height problems, not much but there's still some inset not showing all of the body's content - not always, but moste of the times. Removing the text solves the problem, but that's obviously not an option. My text component: <div class="row m-0"> <div class="col p-0"> <h1 class="title-container"> {{title}} </h1> </div> <div class="col p-0"> <p>{{text}}</p> </div> </div> Removing p solves the problem. Calling doResize() after a few second does also help, but I want it to have the correct height from the very start. BTW changing p's line height etc. does also affect the inset's size hiding some content. Any suggestion how to prevent this from happening? EDIT: After removing the custom font, everything works as well - how so?
  21. GSAP 3 is the most significant upgrade we have ever had. With 50+ new features, there's a lot to be excited about. Here are a few of the highlights: Check out the full demo collection for more. 22. Hello I have to do a airplane that fly vertically left and right whenever the user scrolled, I already did it with Scroll magic and I can't figure how to do it right, i know the problem is on the path it must take full height of my container but i don't know how to do it do you have any idea guys I've been stacked for 2 days Thank you
  23. Hello. This is a basic question regarding my StaggerTo animations. For scope of this, I'm using 2.x still and am using StaggerTo to animate a hand of cards and all of them work beautifully when adding new references to the array. When adding a reference/element to the middle of any stagger or removing an element from an array, I get some experiences I didn't expect. Delete from the array: It doesn't animate out or in reverse as I expected, it just "pops" out of existence. Example: https://gyazo.com/a6cb14ef2b75f9dd40eaf4393581db93 Add to middle of an array: The index and all items after the index are removed, and then they are animated in afterwards. Example: https://gyazo.com/d8e710656e77aeab1ad67110325b871d After research I'm not able to find out if there's a way to work a different stagger, or a setting that can be flipped to enable animations when an item is removed from the array. Or is it this way by design? I looked into make a codepen example, but I lack the skill to recreate the React Hooks + GSAP in codepen in any semblance of a reasonable timeframe, figured with this question it could be a quick answer before I potentially tried to do a lot of work for something that could be as simple as "not by design!". If anyone is kind enough to read and respond to this, I would greatly appreciate it.
  24. Hi I have three card elements with hover animations and they are not working as expected, they have glitches. When hovering over a card element the animations works but when you mouse out or mouse over again it freaks out and all three elements play. Could i please get some assistance.
