  1. Hey guys. First post here. I'm a graphic design and front-end student out of Zealand, Denmark. We are only learning JQuery at my school, but I am a hard learner, so I am looking for other options. I am currently learning vanilla JS, and randomly found this amazing library. So far everything has been super awesome. I'm facing one issue though. I am animating the height of an image. I added an AddEventListener, as I want the animation to start at a specific point on my site. Basically what I want to do is to animate the photo when it reaches the destination of the position. I have
  2. I am trying to add a defaults values for my fromTo(), I tried putting defaults: {} inside gsap.timeline({}) as below const tl_shapes = gsap.timeline( { defaults: { opacity: 0 } }, { defaults: { opacity: 1 } } ); function step_shapes_animation () { return tl_shapes .fromTo( ".step-2 .shapes img:first-child", { x: -200 }, { x: 0, duration: duration } ) .fromTo( ".step-2 .shapes img:last-child", { y: -200 }, {
  3. I'm trying to accomplish something and I'm not sure how to approach it or what direction I should go in. I am using Scrollmagic, however, I think this pertains more to fromTo()'s position attribute and timing. I have an animation where I want background images sliding up on one half and sliding down on the other half. I have achieved this. The second part is I want overlayed text fading in and out while the scrolling is occurring, too. Scrollmagic binds to the "duration" attribute, so 1 = the duration of the pinned scrolled element. The timing I have for that backgro
  4. Hello everyone ! I'm having a problem with the perfect looping of the leaves. This should play like : we see factory > the leaves gently show from opacity 0 up to 1 while traveling along the path > before the end of path they should slowly go to opacity 0 > the leaves gently show from opacity 0 up to 1 while traveling along the path > before the end of path they should slowly go to opacity 0 and so on and so on. I managed to do some crazy workaround that almost works, but the opacity jumps to 1 after repeat as shown in the pen. This looks like I'm missing
  5. Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can help me. I'm putting together an animation of a play button. Everything works fine on mouseenter and mouseleave, but my problem is, the SVG is not rendered on page load. The circle, that is. What I tried: When I removed `.fromTo($circle, .3, {opacity: .5, drawSVG: '100% 100%'}, {opacity: 1, drawSVG: 'true', ease: Expo.EaseOut})` from my timeline, the bug disappeared. For some reason, the drawSVG of 100% 100% seems to be applied to the svg even though the timeline is paused? Timeline.progress has not worked, but clearProps: drawSVG did fix it (although o
  6. Hi there! I'm trying to create a very simple 'carousel' using GSAP's TimelineLite that I will be controlling with buttons and dragging/swiping. Initially, all items of the 'carousel' will be translated -100% to the left of the viewport except for the current item, which will be translated 0%. let $items = $('.container').children(); function init() { initTimelines($items); } function initTimelines(items) { for (let i = 0; i < items.length; i++) { if (i === items.length - 1) { createTimeline(0.5, items[i]); } else { createTimeline(0, items[i]); } }
  7. I'm trying to always have a div start at the left edge or right edge of another div, then move to the center. The issues I'm having are - • you can't have the same animation run twice in a row, you have to alternate between left and right * after the initial animation, each following animation start at a distance from greater than the value of 'from' in the 'fromTo' timeline. Any ideas? <div class="outer"> <div class="inner"></div> </div> .outer { background-color: tomato; width: 400px; height: 300px; position: relative; } .inner { background-color
  8. Hi ! Hope you are fine guys, I have a problem with a timeline execution. Here is my code : this is in a click function : tl = new TimelineMax(); tl.to(".office-map", 2, {marginRight: '1800px'}, "s"); tl.to("#office-contact", 2, {left: '800px', onComplete: afterAnimation, onCompleteParams: [toSelect, currentSelected]}, "s"); tl.to(".office-map", 2, {marginRight: 0}, 'b'); tl.to("#office-contact", 2, {left: 0}, 'b'); And here the called function (afterAnimation) : function afterAnimation(toSelect, currentSelected) { currentSelected.re
  9. Hi there! I find there's something I'm not quite grasping using TimelineMax and fromTo, been trying all sorts of different variations, but shouldn't this work? Or am I missing something critical here? timeline = new TimelineMax(); timeline.append(TweenMax.fromTo(element, 1, {css: {left: "100", top: "100"}}, {css:{left:"130", top: "130"}} )); Appreciate all the help I can get, thanks!
  10. Hey, guys. I'm having some trouble moving my CSS3 animations to GSAP. I'm new to this animation library so bear with me. I have several elements starting off-screen and dropping downwards into their final resting places. Each element has its own unique CSS transform string, containing some or all of the following: perspective, rotateX/Y/Z, and skewX/Y. My first attempt was to use from() and have GSAP do all of the heavy lifting interpolating from a base state I defined in a JSON object to the state defined in my CSS transform strings. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any 3D transforms

    fromTo, left, right

    TweenMax.fromTo('.modal', 2, {top: 0, left: 0}, {top: 0, right: 0}); The aim is to animate top-left to top-right of browser window. In the above, the 'left' property is still being read in the 'to', so it stays top-left. So I tried overriding 'left' with left: "auto": TweenMax.fromTo('.modal', 2, {top: 0, left: 0}, {top: 0, right: 0, left: "auto"}); That sets 'left' back to default, but it doesn't animate from the left: 0 specified in the 'from'. Any ideas? Edit : Although I could do this: {top: 0, left: "100%", xPercent: -100, yPercent: 0});
  12. Hi all, I'm trying to create a rotation that goes from 20 to -20, but starts at 0 (and ideally ends at 0). I've tried using the startAt property to set the inital rotation, but it doesn't seem to work as expected (please see codepen). Could someone explain why the startAt property doesn't set the rotation to 0 and if I'm using fromTo correctly, or I need to do this animation in a different way? Thanks in advance!
  13. First check this link in Chrome, Firefox and Safari: Jug Bug Notice in Chrome and Firefox it animates the scent on rollover... But in Safari it only animates a portion of the tweens. Specifically, the transforms do not work in Safari when calling TweenMax.fromTo(). Interestingly, if you create a simple TweenMax.to() tween, it functions fine. But if you use TweenMax.fromTo() or try to use TweenMax.set() right before calling TweenMax.to() then Safari will not animate the transforms... just standard properties. I assume this is due to the special SVG browser handling in TweenMax..
  14. Newbie here. When using transformPerspective + fromTo and setting alpha:0 to alpha:1 tween never happens. But if alpha value is never set or alpha is 1 to 1 everything works just fine . This is only in FF.
  15. Just starting with GCAP. It's my understanding that .fromTo allows me to specify two different sets of values to achieve both a to and from tweening in one step. I tried to use this in the following example: var tl = new TimelineMax(); tl.from('#test', 1, { left: -50, }); tl.fromTo('#test2', 1, { left: -50 },{ color : 'red' }); example here: http://codepen.io/patrickklug/pen/dGCsy to my surprise #test2 only seems to do the 'to' part but no longer the 'from' left animation. What am I missing?
  16. Hi, as you can see in the Codepen example, I'm seeing different behaviors when using fromTo() nested in two timelines. First case (work as expected): var t1 = new TimelineMax({paused: true, repeat: 2}); t1 .to("#redBox", 1.5, {x: 300}) .fromTo("#redBox", 1.5, {y: '+=100'}, {x: '+=250', immediateRender: false}, "+=0.5"); Second case (work as expected only once, then from the second iteration it seems to not reset the "from", ignoring "immediateRender = false" config value). var t2 = new TimelineMax({paused: true, repeat: 2}); t2 .to("#blueBox", 1.5, {x: 300}) .add(new TimelineMax
  17. I'm having trouble using object oriented TweenLite.fromTo and the paused:true parameter. The following doesn't work var myTween = new TweenLite.fromTo(photo, 1.5, {width:0, height:0, paused:true}, {width:100, height:200}); In what way should paused:true be correctly applied?
  18. Sorry this is probably a really newb question, but can somebody help with the correct syntax for tweening css properties using fromTo (or is this not possible)? TweenMax.fromTo($(".obj"),1,{css:{left:50, top: 10}, css{left:0, top: 50}}); I've been messing around adding and deleting curly brackets for ages, but the console just throws an error every time and I can't seem to find anything in documentation to give me a better clue. Thanks for any help in advance - GSAP really is an awesome work!
