Ha. Good question, jonathan :)

"GreenSock" comes from trying to describe our role in the process of helping folks engage the Internet, like taking a step forward - we don't actually take the step for them, so we're not like a foot or leg; we do, however, make the process much more warm and comfortable so we're more like a sock. Green is the color of growth and prosperity, and then there's the marketing angle - it's very tough to forget someone who is wearing one green sock (which I do on occasion when I attend conferences or business meetings or networking events).

Thanks for asking.

Funny enough for the first 1-2 years that I worked with Greensock products I thought that it meant "GreenShock", because the illustration kinda reminds me of something green shocking someone...

Then I saw "Sock" and had my "Aha!" moment.

However it still means "awesome" for me.

That couldn't be more true!!!

I remember this teacher in university, Carlos Höeffer, who normally didn't care much if his clothes colours matched. Grey pants and Jacket with a brown shirt, a pant and a jacket from different suits, etc. But one day he made class wearing one pink sock and one blue, green pants, blue shirt and brown jacket, I could spend the rest of my life trying to remember what the class was about (it was the differential equations course), but I'll never forget that outfit :D
