If I apply an alpha tween:

TweenMax.to($('.myElementWithTextShadow'), 0.5, {css:{autoAlpha:1}});

...to text that has a text-shadow/filter:dropshadow - in IE9 - I see a black background behind the element as it fades in. It goes away once the tween has completed.

Any thoughts on this?

That appears to be a bug in IE and is unrelated to CSSPlugin or TweenLite/Max. Here's the proof: don't do any tweening and apply these CSS styles to an object and you'll see the oddity:

text-shadow:4px 4px #900;
font-size:32px;
filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=4, Direction=135, Color='#900');
opacity:0.5;

If anyone knows of a workaround, please chime in.
