Hey! Need advices from experts.
I'm playing on a personal project based on Next.js/tailwind/typescript/gsap and i met a problem that i can definetely not solve...

When i try to declare a constant with the utlity method "toArray", i obtained that error : "TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'querySelectorAll')"

I'm turning crazy because i've tried a lot of thing to solve that, but i have no more idea 😅.

What am I doing wrong?

It's pretty tough to troubleshoot without a minimal demo - the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, your browser, an external script that's totally unrelated to GSAP, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or CodeSandbox that demonstrates the issue?

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best (avoid frameworks if possible). See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. If not, incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, then at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

Here's a starter CodePen that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

If you're using something like React/Next/Vue/Nuxt or some other framework, you may find StackBlitz easier to use. We have a series of collections with different templates for you to get started on these different frameworks: React/Next/Vue/Nuxt.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.

Hi @Maxence_34 and welcome to the GreenSock forums!

The issue is super simple, you're creating your selector outside the function that defines and creates the component/page, therefore by the time that code runs there is no element with that particular class rendered in the DOM. You have to run that inside the scope of the component's function. On top of that is highly recommended to do that inside a useLayoutEffect hook (in Next with SSR is best to use this approach though).

Here is a simple example of a Next App using GSAP for the animations:

I strongly recommend you to check this guide:

Finally when using React GSAP Context is your best friend:

https://greensock.com/docs/v3/GSAP/gsap.context()

Hopefully this clear things up. Let us know if you have more questions.

Happy Tweening!
