Share Posted October 1, 2022 hello! i'm trying to activate some animations when in view with react-intersection-observer. so my ref={ref} on my parent div, but every time it appears in view i just get the invalid scope error. what am i doing wrong here? thanks! ... import { useInView } from "react-intersection-observer"; import { gsap } from "gsap"; function Services() { const {ref, inView} = useInView({ threshold: 0.3 }); useEffect(() => { const q = gsap.utils.selector(ref); q(".compile").forEach((imgframe) => { gsap.fromTo( imgframe, { y: 60, opacity: 0 }, { y: 0, opacity: 1, duration: 4, }, inView ); }); }, [inView]);
Share Posted October 1, 2022 You've got inView as the 4th parameter of the .fromTo() which is invalid. Definitely remove that. Also, I'm not a React person, but it looks like your "ref" may not refer to an Element(?) If you're still having trouble, please provide a minimal demo (like a CodePen or CodeSandbox). I'd strongly recommend using gsap.context() in React. New in 3.11. Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best (avoid frameworks if possible). See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. If not, incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, then at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer. Here's a starter CodePen that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo: See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen If you're using something like React/Next/Nuxt/Gatsby or some other framework, you may find CodeSandbox easier to use. Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.
