Hello Everyone,

i have been trying to access the CSSRulePlugin in a component in my Nuxt project but it seems not to be responding. I have a pseudo :after class i'm trying to animate in my component.

Here's the snippet of my code

<script>
import { gsap } from 'gsap'
import { CSSRulePlugin } from 'gsap/all'

export default {
  name: 'FirstSection',
  mounted() {
    const rule = CSSRulePlugin.getRule('.name:after')
    const timeline = gsap.timeline({ defaults: { duration: 1 } })
    console.log(timeline)

    timeline
      .from('.intro', { y: -50, stagger: 0.4, opacity: 0 }, '+=4')
      .from('.tumi', { x: 50, opacity: 0 }, '-=1')
      .to(rule, {
        duration: 1.8,
        cssRule: { scaleY: 0, opacity: 0 },
      })
  },
}
</script>

If theres a reason why the CSSRulePlugin is not responding as its meant to, i would love to know.....Thank you

It's pretty tough to troubleshoot without a minimal demo - the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, your browser, an external script that's totally unrelated to GSAP, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or CodeSandbox that demonstrates the issue?

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best (avoid frameworks if possible). See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. If not, incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, then at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

Here's a starter CodePen that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

If you're using something like React/Next/Nuxt/Gatsby or some other framework, you may find CodeSandbox easier to use.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.

Also, the CSSRulePlugin was intended to make it possible to animate the CSS rules of pseudo-elements way before there were CSS-variables. Nowadays you might be way better off animating those instead - as it also says in the header of the docs page

Quote

CSSRulePlugin has been deprecated in favor of using CSS variables which have excellent browser support these days. GSAP has native support for animating CSS variables, like:

gsap.to("html", {"--my-variable": 100, duration: 2});

Maybe this will make it easier for you - welcome to the GSAP forum!
