Hi,

I have recently downloaded a ZIP file containing bonus plugins, and installed it according to your installation guide. I put gsap-bonus.tgz file into the main folder and ran npm install --save-dev ./gsap-bonus.tgz. I import gsap and necessary plugins and register them in my Scroll.ts file, which is responsible for scrolling effects. When I compile the code, I get the error: image.png.9a12b31dc16eb3a84001ddf5183ba0cb.pngimage.png.5557e61f5d852b40aad87608d31c24dc.png

I logged the gsap object in Observer.js and it turned out to be undefined. What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

I had the same issue and looking for a solution i found this thread.

I found a work around that worked for the project, this might not work for everyone, the issue for me was that i was trying to initialize ScrollSmoother before the 'load' event which makes me think you need to initialized it after or in an event handler for the 'load' event.

Fixed

It actually doesn't need to wait for the "load" event - the problem in your demo was that you put your <script> in the <head> and you were running it immediately, BEFORE the <body> was parsed by the browser at all. So you were trying to reference the "#smooth-content" and "#smooth-wrapper" elements before they even existed. You should never try to reference things (like animate them or apply smooth scrolling) before they exist.

So the solutions would be (choose any):

  1. Just move your <script> to the bottom of the <body> so that by the time it parses and executes that code, the elements it references exist.
  2. -OR- wrap your code in a "load" or "DOMContentLoaded" event handler so that it waits until things are parsed.

(or both) :)

Thanks for posting about what worked for you. I just wanted to offer some clarity.

Hi @Michał Zagojski

If gsap is undefined you're not importing it correctly. It's impossible to say what the issue from a screenshot.

And how did you get the bonus plugins? I don't see a membership attached to your name? If you just to test drive the plugins, you can use gsap-trial.

https://www.npmjs.com/package/gsap-trial

I also have same error and even i use the gsap trial version .

Hi @Vivek Prajapati and welcome to the GreenSock forums!

It's pretty tough to troubleshoot without a minimal demo - the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, your browser, an external script that's totally unrelated to GSAP, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or Stackblitz that demonstrates the issue?

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best (avoid frameworks if possible). See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. If not, incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, then at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

Here's a starter CodePen that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

If you're using something like React/Next/Vue/Nuxt or some other framework, you may find StackBlitz easier to use. We have a series of collections with different templates for you to get started on these different frameworks: React/Next/Vue/Nuxt.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.
