How to get something to dynamically move it's target around

I'm using GSAP to resize calendar events on a schedule, and this means the destination can change extremely quickly as the user either moves a slider or drags a handle on the event. Right now I'm simply creating new tweens every time, but this is making it really jumpy, as the target position moving from the left hand side to the right hand side causes it to instantly lose it's momentum. Is there any way to get an effect similar to the css transition effect?
