COVID-19 "wash hands", "stay safe"... animation?

Hi Chaps & ladies,

In my travels around the internet trying to solve something, or other, I came across a GSAP animation that went along the lines of: "stay safe", "wash hands" and "don't be mental, or something". The animation was pure GSAP and had 3 text messages with 3 SVG's animating into view, in a square box; using the bounce ease.

I'm sure it was on Codepen and I'll be honest, over here, in Blighty, we've got to suddenly start wearing masks in all shops and I'd like to fork the animation, change the SVG's, brand the mask and put up a post on a website that's launching tomorrow. This animation is very apt for the website launching on the day of mask-wearing stupidity. Sorry, I mean, the solid, scientific, common sense approach of covering one's face in a shop, 5 months after COVID landed on our shores and about 4 months after it got bored and started leaving.

This is fantastic news for the UK, unless you're in retail, and great news for those out-of-the-box thinkers such as myself. For instance, I'll be sure to fill up my free COVID Audi (they can't pick it up because of the danger), with a full tank of fuel. This is great because I'll leave the balaclava in the glove compartment and therefore be forced to leave with free petrol, as I'm mandated by law, to only pay for petrol if I'm wearing a face covering.

Hi Zach,

I'm sure it was a demo animation from the team but if anyone's seen this "stay safe, wash hands, wear a mask" animation, it will be on here.

I'm afraid Google isn't picking it up. It's obviously fairly recent but it was very neat. I'm probably best off looking through my recent history but that's easier said than done. God knows how many websites I've visited during the 50+ hours I've been working in the last week or so and, being a developer, I've got several browser's worth.

Cheers.

Yes!!!

Thanks Carl! And by the way, I flew through "GSAP 3 Express" (Jonathon H). Most excellent! I don't remember scratching my head once, unlike JavaScript.

JavaScript hasn't quite clicked for me, yet but I'm almost there, largely thanks to GSAP. I reckon I'm about a week off being able to code JS fluently. PHP was the same. It's like learning to ride a bike. One minute you're floundering about with a basic understanding but unable to build tailored code, the next minute, you're writing an application. With the help of Google. About the only part of Google that isn't ranked to an agenda.

GSAP's been the easiest thing I've ever done. I have been writing tableless HTML every day, since 2001, so that might be why but it's the simplicity of this statement:

GSAP animates CSS properties

I know it animates all HTML properties but the above gave me an instant understanding.

Well good on you, Carl, you brave newbie you!

I don't know how you started but I'm 20 years in and I'll tell you this much, the Basecamp folk, formerly known as 37 Signals put out a book about working efficiently. One of their key messages, at the time, was this:

Get off the conveyor belt of constant learning!

...and that's what I believed. I focussed on PHP, HTML and CSS and got off. Had to get back on for responsive design but that was about it.  Got a big Texas fracking client, CARBO, and then 4 years of horrendous, proprietory CMS work on their MS system and then emerged into the current world in 2017 and got a shock.

It's now conveyor belt of learning insanity! You have no choice but to learn all the time. At least until I find my next niche.

GSAP WordPress websites is only slightly niche. GSAP, on it's own, much more niche. At the moment.

I'll drop you a link when the site launches. I think we're going to put a version of your "WASH HANDS", "STAY SAFE" animation in the footer as it's going to be a hot topic come Monday morning over here in Blightly.

Wow. I hope doctors, scientist, and engineers don't take that advice.

If engineers get something wrong, then your Tesla might drive straight through a shopping mall at 90 mph. I'm confident with my engineers and that's why my phone works, the rest, it's not quite as clear cut.

Specialist surgeon's certainly know their stuff and are always learning but doctors get their science by committee and their cures are prescribed with a tablet. No talk of prevention. Idiotic, disproved concepts of nutrition. We're still prescribing carbs to diabetics. That's like prescribing cigarettes to a smoker.

Science. That's bought and paid for by governments, big business and special interest groups. Think I'm mistaken? Take a look at what's going on where you live and tell me where you can see any science. I see folks wearing what can only be described as a face nappy. They take temperature measurements at the end of Birmingham runway, 5 minutes behind my house, and tell me the planet is getting warmer. They're erecting windmills in the sea. Promoting solar power in England. All of England is much further North than 90% of the population of Canada. Solar at 52°N is science, really bad science.

On a much brighter note, GSAP is awesome!
