Internally in TweenLite, kill() is all you need to do, but in AS3 in general, it's typically a good practice to null your variables so that their reference becomes eligible for garbage collection. Again, that has nothing to do specifically with TweenLite/Max - it's just how AS3 works for all non-local variables.
