License Question

I'm developing a website for a client, where a user can buy exercise plans. I'm using gsap on the frontpage of the site. I'm thought i need a Business License, but then i read here 

 so i'm not sure anymore.

Thanks so much for asking about this. Sorry about any confusion. Our entire business model relies on the honor system and our belief that most people want to do the right thing - folks like you prove that our faith is not misplaced

 

Anyway, if your site is simply advertising a product (like exercise plans) and you're not charging people for anything that uses GSAP (for example, a membership section of your web site where only paying customers can access it), then the standard "no charge" license is perfectly adequate. Of course signing up for Club GreenSock would also get you some handy bonus plugins that could empower some nifty effects or save you time, but that's totally optional. 

 

Hopefully you'll find that the membership pays for itself very quickly when you consider the time it saves you, the added capabilities, performance, reliability, etc. Typically our customers find that it pays for itself literally in a matter of days or weeks. But if you’re not happy, we’ll gladly issue a full refund. We’re passionate about having happy customers around here. 

 

And again, it sounds like your usage probably doesn't even require the special commercial license that comes with "Business Green" memberships, so feel free to enjoy the core tools at no charge whatsoever.

The structure of the site is quite simple: We have a frontpage with the GSAP-Animations, and when the user want to buy the clients stuff, the user can buy this stuff and gains access to his download area (or his personal account page like on any other ecommerce site). GSAP is only in use on the frontpage, which is accessible for all users no matter if they're buying something or not.

 

Sorry for this additional question. I just want to make sure, that i dont rip you off, because gsap is pretty awesome. If the business license is needed i will happily charge the client for it, but when not i dont want to rip him off either.

Thanks for your diligence. Yeah, it sounds like since there are parts of the site that are "members-only" (paid), and GSAP is used on at least part of that site, the commercial license would be most appropriate. And again, if you sign up and are unhappy for whatever reason, we'll gladly issue a refund. Hopefully you'll find that it's well worth the price, though. If your client gives you a hard time about the price or anything, it might be useful to explain how much it'd cost for you to build the same thing WITHOUT GSAP, and make it cross-browser friendly, performant, etc. Typically it'd be a lot more expensive that way, though it depends on what exactly you're doing (if it's just a couple of non-SVG rollovers, this may not be accurate).
