Moving over from GWD to handcoded

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been using Google Web Designer for a while, I hate it. It's clunky and to do simple animations takes for too long. I would rather just use GS.

I am looking for some advice or even a sample file to show what chunks of code we need from google to make a hand-coded banner work with google (the click tag etc). As GWD does this and their documentation is AWFUL some pointers would be appreciated.

It will take some convincing the other people in the ad team but I think if we setup a template and got it through QA it would be a much better way to go.

Many thanks.

BannerTemplates.zip GWD can do several of the ad formats Google has. So when starting a campaign you need to find out which one. I'm attaching the templates I use.

Bannertime would be the best way to go, once you get familiar with it, you can modify it so that it uses your own templates.

If people on your ad team used Flash prior to the switch to HTML5, you may want to revisit Flash, now called Animate CC Canvas export. I have a template and a publish template with clicktag.
