Hello guys!
I'm new in the forum and i don't know where i have to start because the notions that I have to learn there are so many! I have basic programming knowledge, (I was a flash user). I am a 3d artist with a passion for web animation and web design in general. I know  html and css and javascript bases. I would love one day to be able to integrate browser-based technologies with 3d. I would need a little help, as when learning to ride a bike :-), to start in the right direction.

I'd like to build web sites so as I did with flash.

Tnx all

Hi paper  :)

Welcome to the GreenSock forum and thank you for joining Club GreenSock.

It sounds like you're already familiar with HTML, CSS and some JavaScript so I think you'd pick up GSAP pretty quickly.

Here are some articles about getting started.

https://greensock.com/jump-start-js

https://greensock.com/get-started-js

https://greensock.com/sequence-video

https://greensock.com/position-parameter

I'd also recommend The GreenSock Jump Start Collection

http://codepen.io/collection/ifybJ/

Some wizards on CodePen to follow and fork their pens for experimentation and education:

Blake Bowen

http://codepen.io/osublake/

Sir Jonathan

See the Pen popular by jonathan (@jonathan) on CodePen

Chris Gannon

http://codepen.io/chrisgannon/

Diaco

http://codepen.io/MAW/

You mentioned 3D. For that you could look at three.js.

https://threejs.org/

If all experimentation fails, you can also find many answers in the excellent documentation.  :D

https://greensock.com/docs/#/HTML5/

Other than that, I'd say start building some simple things to get the concepts and syntax down. If/when you have any questions or problems, you can post here and we'd be happy to assist. It's always best to provide a CodePen with any GSAP related questions.

Hopefully that gets you started.

Happy tweening and welcome aboard.

:)

Thanks Carl.

Since I'm still relatively new to all this myself, I certainly understand feeling overwhelmed about where to start. So I'm just wearing my green jacket and trying to welcome everyone into GreenSock Land. Then I pass all the really tough questions to Blake and Jonathan.  :D

PointC mentioned three.js, and it plays very nicely with GSAP. One thing a lot of people don't realize about three.js is that it is NOT a WebGL library. That's what most people use it with, and it includes support for it, but it will also work with SVG and HTML/CSS.

Another 3D library that seems to be easy to get started with is A-Frame. Animating it with GSAP has a quirk, with some workarounds discussed here.
