What is the suggested way to kill a timeline and all of its children tweens?  In my codepen, my timelineInstance.kill() is not working as I expected.  Much appreciated.

Hi erikb :)

try something like one of these :

var tl = new TimelineLite();
tl.add([
TweenLite.to("#redBox", 1, {x:550}),
TweenLite.to("#blueBox", 1, {x:550, delay:.5})
])
tl.kill();

or

var t1 = TweenLite.to("#redBox", 1, {x:550});
var t2 = TweenLite.to("#blueBox", 1, {x:550, delay:.5});
var tl = new TimelineLite();
tl.add([t1,t2])
tl.kill();

Ah, thanks.  I mistakenly thought the constructor could take the child tweens.
