force3D:true + Animated Gifs (in Safari)

Warning: Please note

This thread was started before GSAP 3 was released. Some information, especially the syntax, may be out of date for GSAP 3. Please see the GSAP 3 migration guide and release notes for more information about how to update the code to GSAP 3's syntax.

Has anyone noticed that animated gifs don't appear to like being set to force3D:true?

In Chrome it's fine, but in Safari the gif appears to stop playing, and remains static on the 1st frame.

I'll throw up a code pen here later, but in the interests of time I wanted to see if anyone had encountered this, or if it just my imagination?

No, I haven't seen it and this test seems to work fine in Safari 7.1

please let us know what needs to be done to replicate what you are seeing

Thanks Carl,

I might have a dodgy gif then? Or some weird code combination.

I can't code pen the entire code as the work is not approved, but when it's approved I'll put it up for a fun diagnosis session.

In the meantime I just replaced the gif with 2 pngs and created a faux animation with TweenLite / TimeLineLite. The next best thing, arguably better :)
