    Make GSAP Slider Responsive

    Im quite new to GSAP and currently working on a project. I found this slider here online: https://codepen.io/gvrban/pen/qjbpaa and modifyed it to fit my needs. You can find a it on codepen: https://codepen.io/anon/pen/KEYRBY (its ripped out of my project and anonymized so don't wonder for the look) Only problem is, if I resize the page, the slider is of and I have to do a reload of the page to get it fitting again. I understand that it is cause of the calculated variables (which are off after a resize). Is there an easy way to make it responsive or do I have to recalculate it with a window.resize? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi! I'm a little stuck on a little issue 👾 I am trying to make a simple responsive variable in a tween. At different screen sizes, the box needs to move up by varying amounts ( does not work with yPercent ) It was suggested somewhere on this forum that className would work for this, but the css values seem to 'cache' to whatever rules applied at the screen size on page load. i.e. On the codepen the red box should move to the top of the grey bar, and < 1000px turn black, > 1000px turn green. It does this if you run the pen at either size, but if you resize live the initial css value is always used. Is there an easy way around this? Or a simpler method? I also tried using modifier plugin, as suggested elsewhere, but had similar results ( I couldn't find the modifiers plugin js link to make another codepen, commented out in my demo ) I'm guessing some sort of destroy / rebuild the timeline on resize would do the trick, but would be nice if I didn't have to do that? ( maybe not relevant but I am attaching it to a scrollmagic scene, which triggers the shrink / expand nav logo on scroll ) Cheers Greensock you're awesome!
  3. I'm trying to create a simple masonry style portfolio. I'm aware of the many plugins existent, i've tried already masonry.js, but i was quite unhappy with several animations conflict i ended up having with GSAP. Anyway, my question is not even so specific to this very masonry example, so the problem i have here is: this example is based on a series of elements nested inside a multicolumn container. The number of columns is changed according to the window dimension and resizing, or rotation. But at that point all the elements are rearranged suddenly. Could i have a transition instead? I'm not so expert in css transition and i'm not sure that is the way, so very open to suggestions. Maybe GSAP could do the job?
  4. This question is in reference to a previous question I've asked here on the forum. I wanted to achieve the similar transition effect as shown in SCABAL and thanks to the suggestion of @Carl , I was able to achieve the same effect with help from TimelineMax. However, I believe the method I used isn't very responsive friendly. Becuase in order to achieve the similar effect as shown in scabal.com, I tried doing it with TimelineMax(here) and used relative and absolute positioning which completely messed up my mobile responsiveness. To counter this, I have used CSS grid and made a layout which is responsive(here) but I am not able to achieve the same effect using TimelineMax(with CSS Grid) and I can't / don't want to use relative and absolute position in this case. I believe, if I use from( ) and bring the panels to the default state, I will have the effect I am looking for. TLDR: How can I achieve the same effect(as shown in Scabal when you scroll down) only by using from( ) and set( ) method? I've tried but I couldn't get it right. Thank you so much for your time. Help is really appreciated. This is bugging me for quite some time now.
  5. Hi all, I'm new with GreenSock and quite happy with I've done until now with it! I've to do a animation through a path. All seems right up to here. But it needs to be responsive. I mean, as the path adapts to the width of the screen, the animation should also adapt. Is it possible to do this with GS? Any help will be really apreciated. Thanks!

    New Website Launched

    I didn't know if there was a showcase thread but I wanted to share my latest website with you all. https://zadesigns.com make sure to check it out on both the Phone and Browser because it's been designed to be friendly to phones. The site was created with Angular 4.4.6 / UI-Router / Material Design / GSAP 15 / ScrollMagic / SplitText Thanks to Jack and everyone at GSAP for making really great products! Been using GSAP since the good old days of Flash. Also congrats on the new Animation UI dev tool! I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I wish I saw it before I made my site! Thanks! Zuriel
  7. Hi guys! Is it possible to find an example of a responsive banner that I can make in Adobe Animate 2017? All my old source files that worked a year ago do not work now and my skills are not enough to understand what has changed, I just see that the code that generates Animate just diferent. The banner should stretch the entire length of the page, have a minimum width (for example 800 px), and inside there should be 3 independent moveclips - "left", "central" and "right", which change their position depending on the width of the banner. Thanks for any help!
  8. Hi, I am creating a responsive animation where there's an image on the background and some elements of it are animated. For example, I would like to move a cloud 20% of the screen width, but with the code that I have, it's moving it but of a 20% of the cloud width. Does anyone know how to do it of the screen width instead of the cloud width? This is my code: TweenMax.to('#cloud', 5, { x:"20%", ease:Power1.easeInOut, yoyo: true, repeat:-1 });
  9. so for a site I'm working on. the mobile will essentially be a basic slider while the desktop has a different slide functionality. Currently I have the desktop slider complete and trying to figure out the best way to go about this. These are the two options I thought of Clone the html with jquery clone and create a new mobile timeline version. show hide with css. Create and destroy timelines on the same html based on browser size. Which is the better option or is there a better option out there? Thanks!
  10. Hi guys! Your community is awesome! I often read this forum but now I can not find an answer to my question. I need to make a responsive banner that stretches vertically and horizontally within certain limits (320x268 -> 1080x328). Inside this responsive container must play video. Advertising requirements are as follows: <script> function getUrlParam(name) { name = name.replace(/[\[]/, "\\[").replace(/[\]]/, "\\]"); var regex = new RegExp("[\\?&]" + name + "=([^]*)"), results = regex.exec(location.search); return results == null ? "" : decodeURIComponent(results[1].replace(/\+/g, " ")); } </script> <a id="click1_area" href="#" target="_blank">...</a> <a id="click2_area" href="#" target="_blank">...</a> <a id="click3_area" href="#" target="_blank">...</a> // After "<a href ...></a>" assign them to click handlers: <script> document.getElementById("click1_area").href = getUrlParam('link1'); document.getElementById("click2_area").href = getUrlParam('link2'); document.getElementById("click3_area").href = getUrlParam('link3'); </script> For Video: Thank you guys for any help!
  11. Hello, I made a codepen page to illustrate my issue. Basically, I have a black box that tweens its' width and height properties, then tweens down Y 150px and tweens its' width and height again. However, when I resize the page, I need to change the Y and width and height coordinates. How can I do this when it's written in the script? Can I save the coordinates as variables and somehow change them when the browser resizes? Thanks!
  12. Hello, I know a similar question has been asked before, but I think my case is a bit different and I couldn't find a solution. In the pen I posted I have a very long image which I want to scroll from the beginning to its end, which mean that it should stop when its right edge reaches the right side of the window. In order to do this I calculate the distance, so the amount of x translation, as the difference between the image width and the window width. I know about the xPercent property, but I guess that it's not useful in this case, because I have no way of using it account also for the window width. Anyway, the animation works fine. But if after the first animation you resize the browser window and click repeat (top right corner), the image doesn't stop at the right point: it goes too far left, or too far right, depending how you resized the window. So, I'm thinking that the solution would be to update the values inside the tweens on the window resize event. I'm not sure how to to this, or if that's even possible. Is there a better, more appropriate, approach?

    Responsive SVG's in Timeline

    Hi - pleasure to meet you all. My first post but have been getting to know GS over the past few weeks and love it. However now I'm getting stuck. I've been trying to figure out how to make responsive SVG timelines - i.e. set SVG timeline "keyframes" in % such that (e.g.) left:100% will always be at screen right, regardless of screen size. Worked my way through your trail here (http://greensock.com/forums/tags/forums/responsive/) but I'm missing something. As a newbie I'm finding some of the examples a little too confusing to work out so I've created an example of what i'm trying to understand .... I'd like to substitute the X & Y values in the codepen for % along the lines of tl.to(cssCircle, 1, {left:100%}) .to(cssCircle, 1, {top:100%}) .to(cssCircle, 1, {left:0}) .to(cssCircle, 1, {top:0}); Many thanks

    Responsive Tweens

    Hi everyone! I was wondering if someone could help me with a scaling problem I'm having. I have five sections inside a div and every section is the width of the window. The div is the width * 5. When pressing the next buttons inside a section the div translates X the width of the page to show the next section (see codepen URL). I have this function in a window.resize but I don't know how to change the position of the current section so that it always fits and centers the window width. Any help would be much appreciated! - Helle
  15. Hi bro, I need to make responsive on my project. It isn't easy. To be honest, i am done with basic solution. I make multi version for each break-point. Example: one version for min-width:1100px. One version for min-width:750px and max-width:1099px. It's working now. Please, have a check : http://codepen.io/bqhieu/pen/mPqmZO But my code is quite messy with this solution. Also, it isn't good for performance. Do you have any good idea? Please, have a check my clean code which is working for just desktop in here: http://codepen.io/bqhieu/pen/ZWPJKN How can i make it responsive? Thank you in advance for your helping!

    Resize container div

    Hi I'm a big GSAP newbie here. Im using the angularjs framework and I fetch data from a REST service, also flexbox as a layout grid manager, I have a container div with a loading image inside of it. When the data is loaded I ng-hide the loading image and show the data. But is it possible to animate the containers div height as soon as the data is available? So first the div has the height of the loading image, and afterwards the height of the text data returned from the rest service. I dont know the height untill the data is returned so im kind of puzzled here. Any tips on how to handle this? Grts, Ryan
  20. Can anyone point me to a tutorial or codepen demo that shows how to make an entire Greensock project in a div scale uniformly on a resize or load event, preserving aspect ratio and relative positions of all elements within a container div? I've used Greensock within Edge Animate, and it works well. However, when building a GSAP project from scratch within a container div on a web page, nested elements do not scale with the parent container. I'm looking for the most efficient approach for achieving this.
  21. I've been at this for a few days now (starting with Skrollr and now ScrollMagic), and I just can't figure it out: If I create an SVG animation - it completes 100% on my laptop screen. If I view the animation on a larger screen (with more viewport height), the animation doesn't complete (unless I allow the viewport to go beyond the footer, creating blank space). My question is this: how should I use ScrollMagic trigger points in a responsive design where the height of the viewport changes? I initially thought that I could trigger them on the percentage that the actual scrollbar has been scrolled - thus keeping everything in proportion (ie, fire SVG line when the scrollbar has been scrolled 50%), but it seems like this is not the case. If anyone could provide clarification on this, I would REALLY appreciate it! ps, I can create a CodePen if needed - though this is quite a general question that will be applied to animations throughout the site.
  22. I'm trying to figure out why my right column doesn't expand properly when "hide" button is clicked. Both left and right columns are floating left; left column ranges from 20% width to 0 %; right column ranges from 80% width to 100% respectively. Looks great when "show" is clicked, but there seems to be a floating/width issue when "hide" is clicked. This seems like it should be simple, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong... Thanks a trillion. BC

    Animations are very choppy and slow in iOS

    I am using GSAP along with a ScrollMagic plugin to time my animations using the user scroll. Everything works great on desktop, animations are smooth and look nice. But when I load the site on tablet and mobile issues start to show up. I have an iPad and a Galaxy S4, and the galaxy is performing much better than the iPad is. On scroll for the Galaxy there is a short jump at the start, past that the animations are a bit slow but work in general. When it comes to the iPad, the animations are nonexistant... on scroll everything locks up and moves for the scroll, then it seems to reload and moves everything to where they should be instantly. There is no tweening or easing happening and creates a very poor experience on tablet. Im looking for a way to improve performence on mobile / tablet and allow tweening and easing to happen at all on tablet. Thank you
  24. Hi all, I have to build a responsive full width (not height) tabbed slider with GSAP. Anyone has tried this kind of project? Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks! neuhaus3000

    Draggable & percentage

    Hi everyone. Just wondering, if It is possible something like: Draggable.create("#myObject", {type:"xPercent,yPercent"}); or Draggable.create("#myObject", {type:"leftPercent, topPercent"}); Simply said, my goal in both cases is a percentage output. Is this possible with current version of GreenSock Draggable?
